ByChenai's Guide to the Aisle: CHOOSING YOUR WEDDING CAKE and SWEET TREATS
I have the benefit of a wonderfully talented supplier network who have kindly helped me to put this series of Guides to the Aisle for you. In this post I talk to my wonderful friends Fen & Segun at MonAnnie Cakes who are THE trusted source for Luxury Cakes and sweet treat. Here are some of our top tips when choosing your wedding cakes, cake maker and sweet wedding day treats.
1. Give your cake maker as much information as you can.
Notes about the number of guests you are having, whether the cake is the main dessert or not, your budget, dietary requirements, will go a long way towards helping your cake makers work in partnership with you. This will help determine size of cake you will need for example and realise your vision.
2. Make your enquiries in good time.
Some wedding cake makers like to have your cake confirmed at least 3-6 months before your wedding. Sometimes a cake design might require special tools or accessories, which would need to be sourced well in advance.
3.Arrange a tasting and consultation.
If possible, as this would help you and your cake maker get to know each other. Nothing helps a partnership get going like connecting over tea and cake.
4.Share any inspiration you may have for your day.
Colours, themes, pieces of fabric, photos, a mood board… Enjoy the process. Bespoke cake makers love creating items that are unique to you. If you have anything special that signifies your relationship that you would like to incorporate on the cake, please share it! It could be anything from the type of sugar flowers to a butterfly in memory of someone special.
Dessert cake tables are incredibly popular and a great way to celebrate love in style. Just ask!5. Don’t feel limited to just cake.
